Ruth Bridges Johnson

Ruth Bridges Johnson, age 95, of Startown Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating . Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. before the service.
Mrs. Johnson was born August 30, 1923, to the late Walter and Eugenia Lippard Bridges. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jake Clyde Johnson; a daughter, Myra Kemp; six brothers, Preston Bridges, John Bridges, Marshall Bridges, Charles Bridges, Jack Bridges, and Raymond Bridges; and six sisters, Essie Tucker, Bessie Burke Cline, Annie Morrow, Flora Bean, Bernice Houser, and Mary Huss.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy High, and husband Stephen, of Lincolnton; three grandsons, Lance High, and wife Alicia, Devin High, and wife Jamie, and Landon High, all of Lincolnton; three great-grandchildren, Jake High, Beau High, and Colton High; and special niece, Gwen Goodson.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Music Fund, 201 Robin Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
