Obituaries

Janice Elaine Hovis Stroup, age 68, of Woodvale Circle, Lincolnton passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Covenant Church with Rev. Dave Herbertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stroup was born on November 2, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Pervie and Nellie Auton Hovis.  Jan was known for her presence as an associate at Stroup’s Jewelers. In addition to that, in earlier years she was a homeschool and piano teacher. Her music continued at various churches in the area.

Mrs. Stroup is survived by her husband, Joe Stroup of the home; three sons, Josh Stroup and wife, Leanna of Shelby, Caleb Stroup of North Carolina and Joel Stroup of Lincolnton; three sisters, Penny Hovis of Lincolnton, Rev. Jackie Taylor and husband, Rev. Bill Taylor of North Carolina and Linda Lemons and husband, Mark of Johnson City, TN; sister-in-law, Paulette Rudisill and husband, Rudy of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Violet Stroup, Levi Stroup and Cameron Stroup.
