Joe Edward Helms
( February 16, 1930 - August 15, 2019 )
Joe Edward Helms, age 89, of Lincolnton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 15, 2019.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2019, in the Warlick Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home. At all other times, the family will be at the home.
Mr. Helms was born February 16, 1930, in Lincoln County, to the late William Conley Helms and Earlee Davis Helms. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lena Cagle Helms; a son, William Conley Helms; four brothers; and one sister. He worked in textiles, and retired from Vermont American. He was an operator at the Tin Mine convenience site for sixteen years following retirement.
He is survived by a son, Joe “Eddie” Helms, Jr., and wife Sharron, of Lincolnton; two daughters, Sandra Chatman, and husband Steve, and Susan Bivens, and husband Richard; daughter-in-law, Hattie Helms, all of Lincolnton; a sister, Nadine Clippard of Alexis; seven grandchildren, Joe Helms, III, Amy Stitzel, Karen McConnell, Lori Stamey, Dana Mull, Daniel Ingle, and Donald Ingle; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
