Obituaries
Jerry Wayne Cook, age 72, of Lincolnton, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019. Born in December 1946 to Lowell and Pearl Cooke, Jerry grew up in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Jerry served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, then devoted the rest of his life to his career with the NC Department of Natural Resources as a licensed professional Civil Engineer.
Jerry loved the outdoors, spending time helping others through the Baptist Men’s Association, his involvement with the Lincolnton Rotary Club, and his church, First Baptist of Lincolnton, where he sang in the church choir and attended weekly breakfasts with some of his closest friends.
Jerry is survived by his immediate family, his twin Janice Cashion of Statesville and her husband Robert Cashion, his older sister Wanda Bolick of Blowing Rock; his two daughters, Kristina Cook DeMonbreun and Carson Cook both of Charlotte; and two stepdaughters, Ashley Rankin Collins of Durham, and Courtney Rankin of McAdenville. Jerry has two grandchildren, Matthew DeMonbreun and Rachel Carroll.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton, from 4:45 until 5:45 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. The family will hold a private inurnment at a later date.
