Obituaries

Betty Turner Hoffman, age 89, departed this life on Friday, December 6, 2019 surrounded by her loving children.  Born in Lincoln County on January 22, 1930 she was the daughter of the late William Martin Turner and Clara McRee Turner.

She graduated from Lincolnton High School Class of 1947.  She was employed by Cochrane Furniture Company for 40 years holding many positions, the last 20 years in sales.

She joined Emmanuel Lutheran Church in 1950 and served her church in many ways.  Her community service involved volunteering at the Good Neighbor Shop and Carolina Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John David Hoffman whom she married on March 2, 1949; brothers Charles Ronald Turner and wife Patricia; Martin Lee Turner.

She is survived by three children, Chris Hoffman, Lincolnton, David Hoffman (Paula), Clinton, NC, Deborah Lyda (John) of Bermuda Run, NC;  four grandchildren Kylie H. Smith (Chad), Magnolia, NC, Candace H. Coleman (Ben), Roseboro, NC, Natalie H. Pope (Duell), Clinton, NC, and Matthew Hoffman (Holly), Faison, NC, and eight great grandchildren.  Also surviving are loving siblings, a sister Carolyn Dellinger, and brothers Jeff Turner (Phyllis) and Dwight Turner (Doris) all of Lincolnton; Bill Turner (Mary) Greensboro, NC, Kermit Turner (Carol), Hickory, NC. She has many nieces and nephews who were very special to her.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Michael Collins officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019 at Warlick Funeral Home.
