Ferris Reid Abernethy

Ferris Reid Abernethy, age 71, of Denver, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Autrey officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Abernethy was born June 17, 1948, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Harrison Lee Abernethy and Brenda Hefner Abernethy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tim Abernethy and Tracey Abernethy. He was the general manager for S & R Services.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Kisiah Abernethy of the home; two daughters, Niki Vaughan (Scott) of Oakboro, NC, and Erin Kelly (John) of Ramseur, NC; three brothers, Harrison Lee “Bo” Abernethy of Cary, NC, Philip Abernethy of Black Mountain, NC, and David Abernethy of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, John Benjamin “Benny” Vaughan (Kristina Jones), Hannah Vaughan, and Max Vaughan; and great-granddaughter, Skylynn Vaughan.

The family extends special thanks to the Olde Knox Commons Skilled Nursing Staff and Hospice for all their wonderful care.
