Obituaries

Betty Johnson Scronce, age 81, of Howards Creek Mill Road, Vale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Reepsville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Scronce was born October 30, 1938, in Lincoln County, to the late William Paul Johnson and Ilease Gilbert Johnson.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Scronce, Sr.; son, Rick Scronce; brother, Jim Johnson; and sister, Peggy Conner. 

She is survived by a son, David Scronce and wife, Lori of Vale; a daughter, Patricia Hendrick and husband, Wayne of Vale; a brother, Max Johnson of Lincolnton; a sister, Maxine Armstrong and husband, Jerry of Lincolnton; a daughter-in-law, Janie Scronce of Lincolnton;  five grandchildren, Michelle, Heather, Cassie, Hunter and Grace; and two great-grandchildren, Gage and Addie.
