Barbara Bronowicz Sykes
( December 8, 1961 - January 18, 2020 )
Barbara Bronowicz Sykes, age 58, of Country Crossing Drive in Lincolnton, joined her Heavenly and earthly father for eternity on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Covenant Church in Lincolnton from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with service to follow. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Barbara was born December 8, 1961, in Lincolnton, to Jane Bronowicz and the late Richard Bronowicz, Sr. Barbara is a graduate of Lincolnton High School’s class of 1980.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Richard Bronowicz, Sr. She is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Nicole Sykes Mullen, and Nicole’s husband, Alex, of Lincolnton; son, Pat Sykes III, of Chester, Virginia; brother, Richard Bronowicz, Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Crouse; sister, Susan Avery, and her fiancé, Mark Gadbois, of Kernersville; sister, Mary Scott, of Lincolnton; beloved granddaughters, Karis and Kelsie
Mullen, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Barbara is known throughout Lincolnton because her work in the medical field. She worked for various doctors’ offices in town as well as the local hospital. She worked for 20 years for Atrium Health as a Certified Medical Assistant, last at Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute of Lincolnton. In and outside of work, Barbara was known for her compassion, generosity, selflessness, and love of her family. She was always hopeful and loved and believed in the Lord. She had a heart of gold and could always make you laugh, even without trying. Her children were her pride and joy, and her granddaughters were the light of her life.
Memorials may be made to Josh and Kendall Mull’s HarrisonSTRONG Project at P.O. Box 556, Crouse, NC, 28033, as their family and their work supporting NICU parents were very dear to Barbara’s heart.
