David Clayton Fortenberry

David Clayton Fortenberry, age 78, of Bish’s Way in Lincolnton, died on Monday, January 20, 2020.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Calloway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Fortenberry was born January 25, 1941, in Lincoln County, to the late Walter Quilmer Fortenberry and Edith Leavon Sherrill Fortenberry. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia “Ginny” Giannetto; three brothers; and one sister. He served in the United States Navy, then worked as an electrician at The Timken Company.
He is survived by his wife, Lorie Whitaker Fortenberry of the home; a daughter, Brenda Brittain, and husband Marty, of Lincolnton; three sons, David Fortenberry, and wife Elaine, of Massachusetts, Michael Fortenberry of Rhode Island. And Daron Fortenberry of Lincolnton; a brother, Jim Fortenberry of Lincolnton; a sister, Barbara Fortenberry of Lincolnton; thirteen grandchildren, Bradford, Andrew, Davey, Porter, Slater, Griffin, Elton, Shelby, Clay, Jack, Hallie, Kassi, and Kyle; and six great-grandchildren, Javen, Charli, Abilene, Iris, Parker, and Piper.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 3413 NC Highway 150, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
