Lesley Wayne Ballard

Lesley Wayne Ballard, age 101, of Ballard Road in Denver, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020, at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Cecil Ballard and Rev. Von Ramsey officiating. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Ballard was born February 16, 1919, in Lincoln County, to the late Austin Culfax Ballard and Georgia Norwood Ballard. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Travis Ballard; a son, Benny Maners; brothers, Russell Ballard and Roland Ballard; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Wayne served in the United States Army during World War II, then later worked as a carpenter for Whitlock Builders.
He is survived by sons, Larry Ballard (Phyllis) of Denver, Joel Maners (Geneva) of Denver, Oral “Hoppy” Maners (Debbie) of Lincolnton, Michael Ballard (Wanda) of High Shoals, and Charles Ballard (Terry) of Wingate; two daughters, Barbara Rogers (Mickey) of Denver, and Gail Ashley (Fred) of Denver; thirty-three grandchildren; seventy-four great-grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren.
