Obituaries

Betty Hughes Avery, age 86, of Springs East Road, Lincolnton died Saturday, March 28, 2020.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Ernie Richards officiating.  For those that wish, you may come by Warlick Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2020 to pay your respects.  The family will not be present.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Avery was born on January 22, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Mallie Hoyle Hughes.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William Avery Sr., her son John William Avery, Jr., brother, Johnny Hughes and sisters, Ruth Colvard and Jane Warlick.

Mrs. Avery is survived by three sons, David W. Avery Sr. of Lincolnton, Michael R. Avery and wife, Karen of Virginia and Steve A. Avery of Lincolnton; her daughter, Linda Avery Garner and husband, Tim of Lincolnton; 12 grandchildren and spouses; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews and her beloved extended family, Karen and Bruce Bolick, John David Bolick, Andrea Morrison, Tracy and Danita Morrison and Natalie Sides.
