( July 29, 1937 - April 16, 2020 )
Mary Lou Rash, age 82, of Lincolnton, began her eternal rest with Jesus on Thursday, April 16, 2020.
Mary Lou was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Prince Lee and Maude Mauney. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, L. D., and Hubert Mauney and two sisters, Carolene and Alma. In January, Mary Lou celebrated 64 married years with her surviving husband, Donald Hugh Rash. She is also survived by their sons, Michael (Kathy) of Clemson, South Carolina and Todd Rash, of Lincolnton. Mary Lou’s legacy also includes two grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Henderson (Will) of Clemson, and Emily Uselman (Matt) of Greenville, South Carolina, and one great-grandson, Oden William Henderson of Clemson.
Mary Lou retired from a career in textiles in July of 1999. As lifelong members of Long Shoals Wesleyan Church, she and Don faithfully served their church. She especially enjoyed her many years singing in the sanctuary choir and teaching children’s Sunday school. As a wonderful cook, her family weekly celebrated the Sunday lunch feasts she created. Every spring, she enjoyed gardening and manicuring her lawn and flowers.
In lieu of flowers, please offer memorials to Long Shoals Wesleyan Church, 3032 Wesleyan Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, and Hospice & Palliative Care, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
A private graveside service is being held for the family.
