Virginia "Jimmie" Coley Myrick
( October 20, 1926 - April 21, 2020 )
Virginia “Jimmie” Coley Myrick, age 93, of Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, April 21. A private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Jimmie was born in Newton on October 20, 1926, to the late Joseph Alonzo Coley and Virginia Harrill Coley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Atkinson Myrick; brothers, Garrison Coley and Alonzo Coley, and sisters, Frances Sides and Rebecca Starnes.
In 1948, she graduated from Women’s College at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Education in Business. After graduation, she taught school in Henderson, NC, Clevenger Business College, and Newton-Conover High School. She also worked as a secretary at Clyde Fabrics Mill and TarHeel Insurance Agency.
Jimmie was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton. She had such a sweet, quiet spirit and giving heart, and loved her family, who will all miss her very much.
She is survived by her sister, Peggy Lippard of Lincolnton; sister-in-law, Carrie Myrick Woodall of Mechanicsville, VA; special nephews, Bill Coley of Blowing Rock, Dwaine Coley of Taylorsville, Joe Coley of Shelby, Scott Coley of Newton, Chuck Lippard of Sherrills Ford, Mark Lippard of Denver, Jeffrey Woodall of Mitchells, VA, and David Woodall of Mechanicsville, VA.
