John Philip Traver, age 63 of 1369 Old Mill Road in Lincolnton passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020.

Born on February 4, 1957 in Jamestown, NY. He was the son of the late Philip Charles Traver and Janet Warner Traver. John graduated from South Mecklenburg High in '75 and received a BA in International Studies from UNC-Charlotte. Known by co workers as "Happy Jack", John worked in quality control at Timken for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Sandra C. Traver;  sons, Josef Traver, Derek Traver and Barrett Traver all of Lincolnton; daughter, Kandace Traver of Asheville; sisters, Debbie Ferrell, Susan Michael, and Linda Perry; brother, Jim Traver. John lived the life of an exemplary Christian, receiving all he met with acceptance and love. An avid adventurer, he often spent his time outdoors and travelling to new places and even climbed the summit of Mt Fuji in 2015. John served as a Scout Master and taught Bible School and was looked to by many as a mentor and father figure. He will be remembered for his adventerous spirit, creativity, boundless optimism, enduring faith and above all his unconditional love for his family. He will be dearly missed but always loved.
