Ronald Lee Ewing
( April 8, 1954 - July26, 2020 )
Ronald Lee Ewing, age 66 of Howards Creek Mill Road, Vale, N.C. died Sunday, July 26, 2020.

Mr. Ewing was born on April 8, 1954 and was the son of the late Gene T. Ewing, Sr. and Mae Elizabeth Leatherman Ewing.  He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Myra G. Ewing and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Lee Huffstetler.  Before enjoying a life of retirement, Mr. Ewing was a maintenance supervisor with Duke Energy.

All who knew “Ron” loved Ronnie. For those who didn’t know this: he was a free spirit who danced to the beat of his own drum. He was born to make people smile, to laugh hard and break all the rules. Talk with any friend or family member and they will have stories, lots of stories. As I hear it, when dad was a kid, he dropped pennies in the meters uptown to help the drivers who let it run low. As a brother and a son, he kept his family on their toes driving fast cars and staying one step ahead of the law ( most times). As a dad, he helped with algebra homework, showed us the moon through the telescope, schlepped us on annual beach vacations waking us at 3:00 am to beat the traffic, and sped across Lake Norman at 100 mph pulling knee boarders behind. You could hear the booms and see the trees flatten when dad fired cannons on the 4th of July. Dad’s philosophy was, If you’re not having fun, why do it? Mom told me once not to expect to find a man like your dad, most people can’t do “everything”. He could hunt, fish, plumb, wire, build race cars, connect us to cable, farm and the list goes on and on. Dad spent his life giving and helping others and asked for nothing in return.  Nobody does everything the right way, and dad was no exception. In the end, all that matters is dad loved his family, he loved his friends and he loved God. Know for certain we’ll see him again one day, he’ll have the cannons readied and the party waiting to welcome us home. Until then, we love you Daddio, Brother, Ron, Unc, Cuz.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacy Ewing Adcock and husband, Dean of Belmont; his son, Jeffrey Ewing of Lincolnton; one grandson, Ethan Ewing of Rock Hill, S.C.; one sister, Judy Ewing Huffstetler; three brothers, Gene T. Ewing, Jr., Mark Powell Ewing and Michael A. Ewing and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Ewing will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers,  memorials  may be made to Christian Ministry of Lincoln County, PO Box 423, Lincolnton, NC 28093 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
