Rebecca Jensen Schafer
( April 1, 1964 - September 11, 2020 )
Rebecca Lynn Schafer, lovingly known as Becky, was born on April 1, 1964 in Englewood, New Jersey. As the daughter of Vern Arthur Jensen and Betty Jane Jensen, she grew up, along with her sisters Julie and Lori, in Convent Station, NJ. She started her own family in Basking Ridge, NJ, where she lived many years, before moving to Denver, NC in 2004. She is the beloved mother to four amazing sons who were the light of her life – Brad, Billy, Bryan and Timmy.
Becky graduated from Morristown High School, NJ, in 1982, where she made many dear lifelong friends. She went on to graduate from Tobe Coburn Fashion Institute in New York City. She has always demonstrated tremendous work ethic and has been employed full time all of her adult life. In recent years to present, she has been a faithful and valued employee of Wells Fargo Corporation as Security Systems Analysts & Business Continuity Administer.
Becky was a light and joy to all who knew her. She loved gardening and watching things grow, often sharing bouquets from her own garden. She appreciated nature of all kinds--the mountains, the lake, the ocean and beautiful sunsets. She enjoyed watching the birds on her many backyard feeders and playing fetch with her dog, Stella. She loved listening to music and singing with enthusiasm! But above all, Becky cherished her family and loved spending time with them. Baseball games, boating on the lake, family dinners, holiday celebrations—these were all woven into the fabric of their family.
When Becky was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, she chose to share her journey with others. Her positive spirit was unwavering, always choosing to be thankful for the small victories. Her strong faith, even in the battle, was an inspiration to her family, friends, and extended community. Her legacy of living each day to the fullest, cherishing each moment, will live on forever in our hearts.
Becky’s greatest joy on earth was her family and she was theirs. She was predeceased by her parents, Vern Arthur Jensen and Betty Jane Jensen. She is survived by her beloved birth mother Martha Reid; her children Bradley Seymour and wife Brittany, and granddaughters Caroline and Chloe; Billy Seymour and girlfriend Abby Essick; Bryan Seymour; and Timothy Schafer; her sisters, Lori Jensen, Julie Jensen Hope and brother-in-law Woody; and niece Melissa, nephews Joseph, David and William.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 11AM at Denver United Methodist Church, 3910 Business Highway 16 N, Denver, NC. Family will receive guests at the conclusion of the service. Flowers may be sent to Warlick Funeral Home, 125 Dave Warlick Drive, Highway 321 Business, Lincolnton, NC, 28092.
