Madeline Canipe Johnson

Madeline Canipe Johnson, age 92 of Iron Station, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Pearl Baptist Church with Pastor Hugh Whitfield officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Her body will also lie in state on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home. The family will not be present during this time but will be at the home of Renee and Mike Smith.
Mrs. Johnson was born February 29, 1928, in Lincoln County to the late Charles Lero and Dollie Richardson Canipe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Daniel Johnson; two brothers, Clyde Canipe and Ralph Canipe and one sister, Ilease Canipe Carpenter. Madeline was an active member of Pearl Baptist Church where she was church treasurer for twelve years and Sunday school treasurer for twelve years. She worked at Hickory Knitting Mill and retired from General Shoe Lace in Lincolnton, NC.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee J. Smith and husband Michael of Iron Station; three grandchildren, Mitchell Smith and wife Kelly of Iron Station, David Smith and wife Bailey of Iron Station and Lindsey Smith Schronce and husband Phillip of Lincolnton; five precious great grandchildren, Madison, Nathan, Lawson and Stetson Smith and Jackson Schronce; nieces, Carolyn Ferreira, Charita Clark and Kathy Gizowski.
