Peggy Joan Coley Lippard
( September 4, 1931 - October 11, 2020 )
Peggy Coley Lippard, 89, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton with her nephew, dwaine Coley officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Peggy was born on September 4, 1931 to the late Alonzo Coley and Virginia Harrill Coley of Newton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lippard; her special friend, Bob Franklin; brothers Alonzo Coley and Garrison Coley; and sisters Frances Sides, Rebecca Starnes, and Virginia Myrick.
Peggy graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College and taught elementary school in Burke and Lincoln Counties for 37 years. She married Charlie in 1960 and made their home in Lincolnton with their two sons. After Charlie’s death in 1988, Peggy met Bob, and they enjoyed watching sports and travelling until his death in 2019. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton, enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting and other crafts, and loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her sons, Chuck Lippard and wife, Charlene of Sherrills Ford, and Mark Lippard and wife, Beth of Denver; grandsons Coley Lippard of Boone and Braxton Lippard of Raleigh.
Special thanks to Becky Ford, who has been a wonderful caregiver to Peggy over the last year.
