Phyllis Stegall Funderburk

Phyllis Stegall Funderburk, age 83, of Iron Station, died on Thursday, October 29, 2020.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Spencer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Asbury United Methodist Church Columbarium.
Mrs. Funderburk was born October 1, 1937, in Union County, North Carolina, to the late David Greene Stegall and Marjorie Hinson Stegall. She was a graduate of Wingate College and employed by Allstate Insurance Company before being married and having children. She dedicated her entire life to others and making them happy. She was most happy while tending to her garden and cooking for others. She spent years of volunteering at Stanley Total Living Center, baking goodies for every resident then hand-delivering and spending time with each person along the way. She touched everyone she met with her caring and generous spirit.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Funderburk of the home; son, David Funderburk of Lincolnton; daughter, Lesley Glasscox, and husband Scott, of Iron Station; brother, Elwyn Stegall, and wife Betty, of Monroe; grandson, Will Seth Lizarazo; granddaughter, McKenzie Hewitt and husband Aaron Hewitt and great-grandson, Waylon James Hewitt.
