John Everett Mervine

John Everett Mervine, age 70, of Old Mill Road in Lincolnton, passed from this life into Heaven, on Monday, November 16, 2020.
A Celebration of Life service to honor John will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Covenant Church with Rev. Mike Devine and Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating. The body will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at Warlick Funeral Home for those wishing to pay their respects.
John was born May 3, 1950, to the late Robert Francis Mervine and Dorothy Loper Mervine. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mervine, Jr. John grew up in Leisure City, Florida. He joined the National Guard after attending Appalachian State University. Upon graduation, he worked as a teacher for thirty years for the Lincoln County School System. John was an elder of Covenant Church for thirty-five years, and was a faithful, loving husband to his wife.
Those surviving him include his wife of forty-nine years, Gilda Woodie Mervine of the home; sister, Edith Escuder, and husband Jim, of Hickory; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and countless spiritual children.
