Joel Esley Brooks

Mr. Joel Esley Brooks, age 72, of Lincolnton, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at his home.
A memorial service for Mr. Brooks will be held outdoors of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 1, 2021, with Pastor Michael Collins officiating. Masks will be required for those attending.
Mr. Brooks was born June 13, 1948, in Gaston County, to the late Joseph and Hazel Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Owen O’Connor. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Brooks retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Hager Brooks of the home; three daughters, Emily O’Connor and her husband Sean of Summerfield, NC, Mindy Brooks and her husband Will Denton of Lincolnton, Meghan Thayer and her husband Austen of Lincolnton; and nine grandchildren who were the light of his life, Mason O’Connor, Taylor Ann O’Connor, Owen O’Connor, Hayes O’Connor, Hannah Brooks, Cameron Denton, Ella Denton, Maylee Denton and Emory Thayer.
Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Stained Glass Fund, 216 S. Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
