Rodney Dale Burgin, Sr.

Rodney Dale Burgin, Sr., age 82, formerly of Abby Avenue, Lincolnton, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with Bill Horton officiating. His body will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2020 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Burgin was born on May 7, 1938 and was the son of the late Thomas Jacob and Mildred Mitchem Burgin. He was also preceded in death by his wife Joyce Moretz Burgin. After retiring from the Lincolnton Police Department as an officer, he worked as a security guard at Timken in Iron Station.
He is survived by his son, Rodney “Dale” Burgin, Jr. (Jennifer Harkey) of Vale; three daughters, Cindy Leonard (Jerry) of Sunset Beach, NC, Sheila Horton (Bill), of Plantation, FL and Sherry Cottingham of Indian Trail, NC; his brother, David Burgin (Alice) of Lincolnton; his sister, Joannah Harbinson of Maiden; 13 grandchildren and 17 ½ great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
