Robert Julius "Bobby" Sherrill, Sr.
( May 2, 1954 - January 8, 2021 )
Robert (Bobby) Julius Sherrill, Sr. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Sherrill on May 2, 1954. In his early years, Bobby worked with his dad at William’s Auto Parts in Maiden, NC and finished his career with The City of Charlotte Equipment Management Division. Throughout his lifetime, Bobby was active in church, serving in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, church board member, church treasurer, and youth director. He impacted many lives with his sincere love for Christ and for others.
Bobby would say his most important accomplishment in life was his family. He and his wife of 44 years, Cindy Hoyle Sherrill, had two children who were his greatest joy. He spent much of his time with his family at sporting events and found great joy in being “Pap” to his four grandsons.
In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by his daughter, Anna Sherrill Cather, and husband Andy. They have two boys, Brady Andrew and Finn William Cather. His son is Robert Julius Sherrill, Jr. and wife, Jessica. They have two boys, Robert Banks and Beckett Ford Sherrill. Bobby leaves behind a sister, Irene Sherrill Specht, and husband Ron. He also enjoyed spending time with his two nephews, Ronald Jason Specht and wife, Lisa, and Matthew Aaron Specht and wife, Holly, and their children.
The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Lincolnton on Sunday, January 10 at 3:00 with Dr. Stanley Spence presiding. The family asks that masks be worn while inside and please follow social distancing protocols. There will be a private burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Global Partners. P.O. Box 50434, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Fund # WM04-0421. Or by giving online at www.globalpartnersonline.org/missionary/wm04-0421. The memorials will support our niece, Deanna and her husband, Dan, who are serving as long term missionaries in Haiti.
