Carl Gattis Powell, Jr., age 73, of Sam Houser Road in Vale, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021, in the Reeps Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Fulker officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Friday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell was born August 14, 1947, in Cleveland County, to the late Carl G. Powell and Merle Leatherman Powell. He worked in hosiery.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Dodson Powell of the home; son, Mark Powell (Joan) of King, NC; two daughters, Lisa Houser (Sam), and Robin Endicott- Powell (Tammy), all of Vale; five grandchildren, Blake Goble (Chelsea), Layton Hewitt (Kelsey), Jaiden Powell, Jon Mark Powell, and Jacob Endicott-Powell; and two great-grandchildren, Willow Goble and Liam Goble.
Memorials may be made to Reeps Grove United Methodist Church, 4287 Reeps Grove Church Road, Vale, NC 28168, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
