Helen Joan MacGregor Glover
( September 6, 1933 - January 24, 2021 )
Helen Joan MacGregor Glover, 87, of Sweet Cherry Lane in Denver, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
Mrs. Glover was born on September 6, 1933, in Oneonta, NY, and was the daughter of James and Ida Lillian Eliza Decker MacGregor. She was married to Donald Francis Glover for 47 years until his passing in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James MacGregor of Winsted, CT.
Throughout her life, she lived in many places, including her birth state of New York, Vermont, Maryland and North Carolina. Following her husband’s death, she continued to reside in Ocean Pines, Maryland, until her relocation to North Carolina in 2010. Over the years, she developed and maintained life-long relationships and traveled often to gather with her friends and family.
Mrs. Glover is survived by her three children, Lori Jayne Glover Colavita (Joseph) of Denver, NC; Marcy Ann Glover Crane (Bernard) of Annandale, VA; and Donald Thomas Glover of Rock Hill, SC; one sister, Lillian MacGregor Lavech of Colchester, CT; four grandchildren, Joanna Elizabeth Crane, Katy Mechele Glover Felske (Brian), Benjamin Elliot Crane, and Madison Caroline Glover; and one great-grandson, Carter Reese Felske. She is also survived by dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews of three generations. She further rejoiced in dozens of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren “of the heart.” She firmly believed that families are born as well as made by the love they share.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, no in-person service will be held at this time. Donations in her name may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, The American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital – all worthwhile and meaningful to her.
Helen Glover always demonstrated the values of honesty, hard work, helping others and faith in God. She was a fierce advocate for her family and lived by the adage, “I’d rather laugh than cry.” She touched so many lives with her kindness, generosity and humor. Our hearts are broken but we are lifted by our memories and the joy of having known her.
