Dana Elizabeth Norwood Gates

Dana Elizabeth Norwood Gates, age 82, of 2435 Heavner Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, February 8, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021, in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Johnny L. Crow officiating.
Dana was born September 15, 1938, in Lincoln County, to the late Jack Norwood and Laura Asbury Norwood. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Barry Norwood. Dana and her husband, Terry, were high school sweethearts and married for 62 years. She loved her family, the joy of singing, the pleasure of cooking, and the pastime of reading. She was a member of The Review Book Club, a supporter of the local arts, and a lifelong member of Boger City United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Gates of the home; son, David Gates (Olga) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Kara Gates Brown (Rob) of Denver; sister, Bette Greenway of Pilot Mountain; and four grandchildren, Jessica Gates of Knoxville, TN, Conner Gates of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Brown of Chapel Hill, and Emery Brown of Denver.
Memorials may be made to Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to Tekoa Foothills (Camp Loy White), 258 Hull Road, Casar, NC 28020.
