Mahlon Brewster Strope, Jr.

Mahlon Brewster Strope, Jr., 86, of Iron Station, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021, unexpectedly as a result of a car accident and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community.

Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Uncle.

Brewster was born in Pennsylvania. However, has lived in Ohio, Washington St., and resided in North Carolina with his "Beautiful Bride", Karen Larson Strope to be around his siblings and enjoy the later years of his life.  He was a retired Chemical Engineer for Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Richland, Washington.  He currently was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church Denver, NC. Throughout his life he was also active in Toastmasters International, many bowling leagues, church choir, and the Theatre Guild.  He was passionate for writing poetry and enjoyed being part of the local theatre productions, fishing and hiking, bird watching, traveling and taking pictures of Gods creations.

In his daily spiritual walk with his Lord and personal savior, Brewster loved and cared unconditionally and always volunteered his time to help others in need.  He was a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem advocate with CASA program in both Washington and North Carolina and numerous volunteer programs.

Brewster was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Mahlon Brewster Strope, Sr. sons Timothy R. Strope, Steven Strope and son-n-law Kelly L. Huffaker.  Survived by his wife, Karen Larson Strope; siblings (Twin Brother) Marvin Bernard Strope (Ingrid), Sandra Strope Hill (Dennis), Joanne Strope Pelton (Ray), Ivan Floyd (Bud) Strope (Patricia), Lynne Strope Jonas (Richard).  Children, Russ Strope (Cheri), Susie Hahn (Greg), Dan Strope (Nancy), Dave Strope, Mahlonna Strope, Elijah Strope, Sophia Strope, Christopher Strope, Angie Huffaker, Jeff Larson (Marie), Annette Watts (Tim) and Garry Larson (Michelle); numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

A small memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, NC.  Masks will be required to attend.
