Michael Robert Shaffer
( July 29,1996 - April 10, 2021 )
Mikey-roo, as he was known to his family, passed away on April 10, 2021 in the early morning hours.
Michael was born July 29, 1996, in Texas where he lived with his family until 2000 when they moved to Illinois. Mikey and family moved to Lincolnton, NC in 2002 where he graduated in 2014 from West Lincoln High School. He went on to NC State University with a bachelors in physics.
Michael will be remembered as a selfless, caring, and loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved everything outdoors; he was always ready to go hiking. He went on a couple mission trips with the youth group at his church. He was an Eagle Scout; he loved Cookout, and kicking everyone’s butt at games like Monopoly, Battleship and Stratego.
Michael is survived by his parents, Todd and Eve Shaffer, sister, Sarah Jenks (Zac and son Zeke); brother Matthew Shaffer (Jessica, son Thad, and daughter Willow). He is preceded in death by a sister-in-love, Shannon Murdorf, grandparents, Bob and Pat Nixon, Nancy Shaffer and Richard Shaffer.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Dorothy’s Catholic Church on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America by going online.
