Gary Lafayette Atwell

Gary Lafayette Atwell, age 62, of Lanyards End, Sherrills Ford passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021.
His funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Terrell Baptist Church, 4146 Slanting Bridge Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673, with Rev. Chad Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at Terrell Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook through the Terrell Bapitst Church website (www.terrellbaptistchurchnc.com)
Mr. Atwell was born on May 23, 1959 and was the son of the late Charles Lafayette Atwell. He was a truck driver and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Atwell is survived by his wife, Deana S. Atwell of the home; two daughters, Michelle Ann Atwell of Denver, NC and Holly Elizabeth Atwell of Shelby; one son, Matthew Lee Atwell of Seattle, WA; two stepsons, Bobby Dean Watts of Lenoir and Brandon Dewayne Watts of Springfield, TN; his mother, Betty Atwell of Denver, NC; two sisters, Lynda Marlowe of High Point and Lisa Taylor of Harrisburg; one brother, Glen Atwell of Denver, NC; three grandchildren, Hunter Hopple, Phoenix Hopple and Gavin Bost.
Memorials may be made to the American Disabled Veterans Foundation, www.dav.org.
