Mary Frances Foster Hovis

Mary Frances Foster Hovis, age 89, of Lincolnton, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with Rev. Alan Wheeler officiating. Her body will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday at Warlick Funeral Home without the family present. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mary Frances was born near Duncan, SC to the late Russell Bryan and Jenelle High Foster. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Edward (Bill) Hovis, Jr. and her brother, David Giles Foster. At a young age she moved with her family to High Shoals, N.C. where she met her husband to be and started her own family. She left the textile industry to begin a nursing career at Crowell Memorial Hospital in Lincolnton. Her successful career culminated in 23 years of service in the operating room at Gaston Memorial.
Mary Frances is survived by her son, Mark and his wife, Tony; two grandchildren and a long list of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary was described as sweet and kind throughout her life and will be missed by all who knew her.
