Mary Ellen Wentz Keener

Mary Ellen Wentz Keener, age 88, of Horseshoe Lake Road in Lincolnton, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Boger City Baptist Church with The Rev. Dr. Bob Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Keener was born July 20, 1933 in Lincoln County to the late Alfred Pinkney and Ruth Travis Wentz. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Lee Keener and a brother Jerry Wentz. Mrs. Keener worked for Dr. Steelman as a dental assistant before retiring.
She is survived by a son, Wallace Andrew Keener of Lincolnton; a sister, Patsy Wentz Hannon of Lincolnton; a brother, Ralph Gene Wentz and wife Brenda of Lincolnton; granddaughter, Lauren Ashlee Keener of Lincolnton; special niece, Lisa Hannon Bontekoe of Charlotte; former daughter in law, Jennifer Runge; and caretakers, Rosie Holt, Margo Gabriel, Avery Poovey, Haley Furr and Elaine Kanold; and Burton Leonard who Mary considered a son.
Memorials may be made to Boger City Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2201 East Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
