Melvin Kelly Chapman, II
( January 27, 1969 - October 18, 2021 )
Melvin Kelly Chapman, II, went home to be with the Lord and join his two daughters, Brittany and Emily Ann, on October 18, 2021, surrounded by his family.
His funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Farnsworth and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
He is survived by his parents, Melvin and Montrece Chapman; grandmother, Mary Louise Owens Pope; brother, John Eddie Chapman (Lucinda); sister, Amy Bryant (Scott), nephews, John Chapman and Alex Bryant; niece, Victoria Eicholtz (John); great-niece, Abbie Eicholtz; aunt, Cheryl Owens; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his daughters, Brittany and Emily Ann; grandfather, John Owens, II; paternal grandparents, Ed and Iva Chapman; great-grandparents, Henry and Blanche Chapman; and uncle, John Owens, III.
Melvin loved his family, enjoyed spending time with family, talking old times, riding dirt bikes, restoring bikes and go-carts, collecting memorabilia, sharing stories of his many adventures, a good wrestling match, and following the Braves baseball, and going to the beach, especially during Harley bike week. Melvin loved his nieces and nephews, doting on them, and loved playing Santa Claus at Christmas. He loved the Lord and was always ready to share this and pray for those in sickness and difficult situations.
