Catherine Cotogno McLeod
( April 4, 1924 - November 16, 2021 )
Catherine Cotogno McLeod, age 97, of Lincolnton, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Shea Houser officiating. The body will lie in state from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. McLeod was born April 4, 1924, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Vito and Lena Mendolia Cotogno. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Pershing McLeod; a son, William Victor McLeod; a daughter, Mary Catherine McLeod; grandson, Will McLeod; sister Nora Corso.
She is survived by two sons, John Latham McLeod, and Joseph B. McLeod and wife Melanie, both of Lincolnton; daughters, Jeanette Henley and husband Charlie of Maiden, Linda M. Hallman and husband Rick of Claremont, and Annie Lou M. Midkiff, and husband Jerry, of Oak Ridge, NC; brother, Leonard Cotogno and wife Helen of Louisiana; one sister, Ramona Mastalerz of Texas; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Catherine was a godly lady who was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. She and her husband volunteered for many years with the developmentally delayed community Sunday School class.
Many thanks to loving friend and caregiver, Jane Taylor, and special friends: Joann Crowther, Janet Whiteside, Ruth Cloninger, and Chloe Stines. Special thanks to Hospice of Lincoln County and caring staff, especially Linda, Candy, Jane, and Dr. Knight.
