Jacob Shuford "Buddy" Whitener, Jr.

Jacob Shuford “Buddy” Whitener Jr,. age 88 of Startown Rd. Lincolnton, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
“Buddy” was born August 30, 1933, in Lincoln County to the late JS “Bud” Whitener, Sr. and Eva Goforth Whitener. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rebecca “Becky” Friday Whitener and his brother, Albert Anthony “Tony” Whitener.
Buddy worked for Bell South for 31 Years and was a farmer of White Oaks Farms for his entire life. Buddy loved the Lord, his family, his community and talking with his many friends. Buddy could be heard before you saw him and he loved raising his beef cattle.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Keever Ritchie Whitener of 11 years. Children, Melvin “Mel” Jacob Whitener (Cindy) , David “Dave” Shuford Whitener (Pattie): siblings, Virginia Yoder, Eleanor Ramseur, Robert “Rob” Whitener, and Terry Whitener(Tamera); grandchildren, Shannon Whitener (Dusti), Christie Whitener Murray (Jake), Josh Umphress (Mercedes), Adam Whitener (Erica), Emily Whitener Halubka (Nate), and Ashley Whitener; and great-grandchildren Cody Heavner, Aydan Heavner (Bobby), Cameron Whitener, Aliah Gipaya, Ashton Whitener, Gage Halubka, Karson Whitener, Kaylob Whitener, Eva Halubka, Emma Whitener, Eli Whitener, Kolton Whitener, and Titus Halubka.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County.
