Basil Boyd Gates, age 79, of Cory Lane in Lincolnton passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born October 11, 1942 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Earl M. Gates and Olive Calloway Gates.
Mr. Gates is survived by his daughter, Freida Gates of Lincolnton; sons, Glenn Gates and wife Paula of Lincolnton, and Joseph Gates and wife Misty of Vale; brother, Junior Gates of Lincolnton; sisters, Patricia Gates of Lincolnton, and Marcene Spencer; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Randolph; brother, Randy Gates; and sisters, Betty Jean Towery and Mildred Tindal.
Mr. Gates’ family will gather at his home, 2834 Cory Lane in Lincolnton, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, for anyone who would like to stop by.
