William Montgomery Lentz III, age 51, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Lincolnton, NC passed away Friday, March 18, 2022.
Montgomery was born August 30, 1970 to William Montgomery Lentz Jr. and Joanna Cronland West. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mayor William Montgomery Lentz and Margaret Sloan Lentz; his maternal grandparents, John Edward “Jack” Cronland and Estelle Cash Cronland.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Anna “Maggie” Lentz , of Orlando, FL; Father, William Montgomery “Billy” Lentz Jr. of Hickory, NC; Mother, Joanna Cronland West (Dr. Jeffery West) of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Zachary Cronland Lentz of Aspen, CO; John Matthew “Matt” Lentz (Amanda) of Lincolnton, NC; two nephews and one niece, Bode Montgomery Lentz of Aspen, CO; Charlotte Wray Lentz and Levi Matthew Lentz of Lincolnton, NC.
Montgomery had a creative passion and was a very talented artist. He graduated from East Lincoln High school in 1988. Montgomery then attended and received a Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration from the prestigious Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida with an Associate of Fine Arts from Gaston College, Dallas, NC.
Montgomery worked with Universal Studios, MGM studios, Disney World, Epcot, Sea World, Islands of Adventure, Orlando International Airport, LegoLand-Germany, Hard Rock Museum-Orlando FL, numerous TV commercials, Bob Marley Tribute at Universal City Walk, Halloween Horror Nights for Universal Studios, Lead Artist for Universal’s Islands of Adventure Orlando FL, and Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The beauty of his work will be a long-lasting legacy.
His funeral service will be at Asbury Methodist Church Lincolnton, NC, Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., with reception of friends at 12:15 p.m.-1:45 p.m.
