Ricky Jordan Oxford
( January 31, 1961 - March 24, 2022 )
Ricky Jordan Oxford passed away on March 24th, 2022, at his home, 4227 W, Hwy 27 Vale, NC.
He was born on January 31, 1961, in Welch, West Virginia. His battle with cancer in recent months showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Ricky came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Mr. Oxford is preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Deborah Oxford; his parents George Riley Oxford and Selma Whitt Oxford; two brothers Walter and Tommy Oxford; and sister Shelby Oxford.
Mr. Oxford is survived by four children, Angela and Dusty Thomas of Vale, Misty and Billy Hughes of Lincolnton, Crystal and Tony Guzman of Lincolnton, and Ricky and Kasey Oxford of Lincolnton. Grandchildren are Deanna, Jacob, and Haven Thomas, Blake Hughes, Bryson Oxford, Jazzie and Brayten Burnette, Destinee and Victoria Thomas, Dallas Varner, and Kane Johnson. Mr. Oxford has one great-grandchild, Rosaleigh Morris (KitKat). Also, numerous other children called Mr. Oxford Grandpa. Three sisters, Robin Wright, Teresa Metts, and Donna Rose. One best friend, Annette Oxford.
Mr. Oxford retired from textile (Delta Apparel) and was a firefighter in Berwind, West Virginia. His favorite hobbies included spending time with his family, working in his garden, scrapping, and playing with his dog Grizzly. He was truly loved by all and will be missed, gone but never forgotten. Go Rest High on That Mountain, Your Work on Earth Is Done, daddy.
His funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Teddy Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Lincolnton, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
