Sharon Ann Brown Spaulding
( November 12, 1945 - May 17, 2022 )
Sharon A. (Brown) Spaulding, 76, died peacefully May 17, 2022 at Courtland Terrace in Gastonia, NC after a long, courageous battle with Lewy Body dementia.
Sharon was born November 12, 1945 in Skowhegan, Maine to Lucille (Brown) Yount and Maynard E. Brown. She graduated 1964 from Anson Academy as second honor essayist of her senior class. Sharon attended Eastern Nazarene College and St. Petersburg Jr. College, Florida. Her career included several accounting positions, ending as an accounting manager at Bradington-Young in Cherryville, NC.
Sharon married her high school sweetheart Edward Spaulding and later welcomed their loving daughter Cindy. After Edward’s service in the U.S. Air Force, she and Ed moved to Florida and finally settled in Vale, NC.
Sharon was a very talented knitter, enjoyed gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, loved children and her cats Punky, Red and Bear. She is predeceased by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy (fiancé Jeff) of Belmont, NC; sisters Carol Brown and Nora Murray (Bruce) of Vassalboro, ME, and Kym Brown-Hunter (Jon) of Floral City, FL; brothers Neil Brown (Marie) of Spruce Pine, NC, Dan Brown (Lisa) of North Anson, ME, and Brian Brown of Palm Harbor, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Courtland Terrace for their amazing care provided over the years, as well as Gaston Hospice and all who compassionately aided in the care and support for her and her family.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 in North Anson, Maine at the First Congregational Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (Lbda.org).
