George Richard Cox

George Richard Cox, age 90, of The Greens of Lincolnton, died on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Cox was born June 18, 1932, in Washington, Indiana, to the late Elmer Glen Cox and Janice Irene McCracken Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Thelma Jean Sease Cox; daughter, Cynthia Walters; and son-in-law, David Eaker, Jr.. He served in the National Guard and was a lifetime Mason of Salem Lodge #21 in Salem, Indiana. George was widely known as the ‘Clock Doc’. George retired from Vermont American after fifteen years.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Graff Cox of Lincolnton; son, Richard Wayne Cox of Crouse; daughters, Lou Ann Cox Davis (Gary), and Elaine Cox Eaker, all of Lincolnton; son-in-law, Gene Walters of Crouse; stepdaughter, Jeanne Kaudelka (Walter) of Huntersville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207, the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060, or to Hospice of Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
