Samuel Edgar Byers, Jr.

Samuel Edgar “Animal” Byers, Jr., age 64, of Highway 182 in Crouse, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Messiah United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
Samuel was born January 19, 1958, in Lincoln County, to the late Samuel Edgar Byers, Sr. and Sarah Inez Chapman Byers. He worked as a welder/pipe fitter. Samuel was a loving husband and father, and loved his dogs, Buck and Otis. He was formerly a lieutenant at the Boger City Fire Department and was an Eagle Scout. Samuel enjoyed deer hunting, plowing, planting, and driving the tractor. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching them win or lose.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cara Rhoney Byers of the home; daughter, Sara Rebecca Byers of the home; brothers, John Byers (Patricia) of Jensen Beach, FL, and William Byers of Vale; numerous nieces and nephews; long-time friend, George Gantt; sister-in-law, Christie Rhoney; brother-in-law, Craig Rhoney (Sherry); and mother-in-law, Rebecca Rhoney.
Memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, 1001 E. 101st Terrace, Suite 220, Kansas City, MO 64131.
