Marvin Cleveland Hoover

Marvin Cleveland Hoover, age 88, of Hoover-Elmore Road in Vale, died on Friday, September 16, 2022.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Reepsville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating. Burial will follow in the Reepsville Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hoover was born August 8, 1934, in Lincoln County, to the late Marvin Clarence Hoover and Wertie Lee Bryant Hoover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamalia Hoover Bethancourt, and a sister, Hazel Hoover. He served in the United States Army and would later work for Carolina Freight Carriers as a truck driver. After retirement, he enjoyed tending to his farm and having breakfast with his friends.
Memorials may be made to Reepsville Baptist Church, 4287 Reepsville Road, Vale, NC 28168, or to American Legion Post 100, 215 N. Pink Street, Cherryville, NC 28021.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Bumgarner Hoover of the home; daughters, Teenya H. Gantt (Alan) of Vale, Cindy H. Lints (Doug Knowles) of Lincolnton, and Beth H. Moss (Jay) of Cherryville; brother, Jack Hoover (Margaret) of Vale; sisters, Marilyn Rodden of Charlotte, Ruth Boyd (Lee) of Vale, and Phyllis Scronce of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren: Tim Arrowood, Weston Bethancourt (Raven), Jordan Gantt, Sarah Lints, Charlie Bethancourt (Makenzee), Rebekah Castell (Colton), Murphy Moss, and Eli Moss; and two great-granddaughters: Naomi Bethancourt and Callie Castell; and sons-in-law, Jeff Lints and Chuck Bethancourt.
