William Montgomery Lentz, Jr.

William Montgomery “Billy” Lentz, Jr., age 75, of Lincolnton, NC, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022.
Billy was born October 31, 1946, to Lincolnton Mayor William Montgomery “Buster” Lentz and Margaret Sloan Lentz. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son William Montgomery Lentz, lll.
He is survived by Joanna Cronland West of Charlotte, NC; their two sons, Zachary Cronland Lentz of Aspen, CO; John Matthew “Matt” Lentz (Amanda) of Lincolnton, NC; two grandsons and two granddaughters, Margaret Ann “Maggie” Lentz of Orlando, FL; Bode Montgomery Lentz of Aspen, CO; Charlotte Wray Lentz and Levi Matthew Lentz of Lincolnton, NC, and one sister, Linda Neighbors of Winston, NC.
Billy graduated from Lincolnton High School, attended NC State University and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University. He served on the Board of Directors of Lincoln Bank for many years, and was the President and a very active member of the Lincoln County Historical Association.
Billy had a passion for history, traveling, and adventure. Colorado and Wyoming, in particular, held a special place in his heart. His many hobbies included skiing, scuba diving, hunting, and fishing.
Billy’s funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2022 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be held at a later date. The body will lie in state on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Warlick’s Chapel.
