Rev. Roy Weightsel Lanier

Rev. Roy Weightsel Lanier, age 83, of Springs East Road in Lincolnton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 07, 2022. Rev. Lanier was born December 14, 1938, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Jessie Cornelious Lanier and Lettie Irene Denton. After a long life in the ministry, Roy retired this year. He was a veteran of the US Navy.
Rev. Lanier is survived by his daughter, Darlene Lanier Edge (Ronnie) of Iron Station; sister, Faye Lanier Heafner of Stony Point, NC; brothers-in-law, Leon Sisk, and Tom Shuford; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lauren Shuford; and very special family friends, Treasa Brown, who always provided comfort, love, and care to Roy and the family, and Gene Goodson, a friend and neighbor who always was there for Roy and the family.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Lanier was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie “Colene” Shuford Lanier; brothers, Bill Lanier, and Allen Lanier; sisters Loley Summey, and Barbara Sisk.
A funeral service for Rev. Lanier will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Maceachern and Rev. Lawrence Ownbey officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service at Warlick Funeral Home.
