Mary Louise Chapman Owens Pope
( December 20, 1929 - December 14, 2022 )
Mary Louise Chapman Owens Pope, age 92, of Labans Lane in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Farnsworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Pope was born December 20, 1929, in Lincoln County, to the late Henry Lee Chapman and Amanda Blanche Matthews Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Herman Pope; her first husband, John Lee Owens, Jr.; son, Johnny Owens, III; grandson, Melvin Chapman, II; siblings, Bill Chapman, Jack Chapman, and Gerlene Helms; and great-grandchildren, Justin Owens, Brittany Christine Chapman, and Emily Ann Chapman. She worked in banking for 25 years serving as branch manager and secretary/treasurer of what is now BB&T/Truist.
Louise loved the Lord and her family. Louise was always an active member in her church life. She taught Sunday School, was a GA Leader, WMU Leader, and was a prayer warrior for her friends and family.
She is survived by a daughter, Montrece Chapman (Melvin) of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Eddie Chapman (Lucinda), Amy Bryant (Scott), John Owens, Brandi Henderson (Jason), and Chance Owens (Laura); great-grandchildren, Victoria Chapman Eicholtz (John), Alex Bryant (Ashley), Brandon Owens (Elizabeth), John Chapman, and Makenna Owens; and one great-great-grandchild, Abigail Eicholtz.
A special thank you from her family to Carolina Caring Hospice and caregivers, Ciara Lambert, Josephine Lawrence, Priscilla Ghorley, and Shannon Reep.
