Gerald Max Newell
( January 19, 1950 - December 26, 2022 )
Gerald Max Newell, age 72, of Woolie Road in Lincolnton, NC, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022. Mr. Newell was born January 19, 1950, in Union County, NC, a son of the late Lee Edmond Newell and Lula Mae McClain Newell.
He met the love of his life Sarah Ann Painter Newell, and later married on Aug 2, 1969. They had 3 children, Amy Marie, Myra Kaye and Kevin Dean. Max was a member of the Lincoln Church of Christ where he loved to lead singing and enjoyed Bible study. He always looked forward to attending church services. He retired from Central Carolina Sprinkler Company. Max loved to hunt and fish. He also volunteered with the Boger City Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
Mr. Newell is survived by his daughter, Amy Caskey (Lee) of Lincolnton; son, Kevin Newell (Leslie); son-in-law, Brian Johnson; brother, Ken Newell; sister, Linda Polk; grandchildren, Cynthia Caskey Smith (Derek), Rachel Johnson, Emily Newell, and Whitney Newell; and great-grandchildren, Bryson and Brystol Smith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Newell was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Newell; daughter, Myra Johnson; and brothers, Dallas Newell, and Bruce Newell.
A funeral service for Mr. Newell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel, with Stan Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lincolnton, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
