Joseph Peter Anzalone
( August 19, 1941 - January 1, 2023 )
On January 1st, 2023, Joseph Peter Anzalone, age 81, of Denver, NC peacefully went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Affectionately known as Joey and later Joe, he was born on August 19, 1941, to Joseph and Mary (Puglia) Anzalone in Mt. Morris, NY where he spent the first 26 years of his life and where he attended Mt. Morris Central High School. Following high school, Joe spent two years in the United States Army returning home in 1966 when he met and married the love of his life of 55 years, Josette Riso Anzalone.
Joe and Josette lived in Batavia when first married but returned to Joe’s hometown of Mt. Morris, NY for about 20 years where they were blessed with two wonderful children. Joe enjoyed many professions throughout his life. He worked with his dad at Joe’s Auto Parts, held various positions in the Food and Retail Industries, and ended his working career in hospital medical billing. When Joe wasn’t working, he enjoyed time with his family and friends, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s music and sports activities. Joe enjoyed roller blading, skating, gardening, floral arranging, and many nights of dancing with his wife. Joe had incredible patience, was kind hearted, fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. He will be remembered and missed by many.
Joe was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Puglia) Anzalone, his father and mother-in-law, Andy and Rose (Cipriano) Riso, sister-in-law Judy Riso, his brothers-in-law, Andrew Dennis Riso and Richard Countryman and many uncles and aunts.
He is survived and forever remembered by his loving wife, Josette, children, Joe (Lisa) Anzalone, Denver, NC, Rosemarie (Tony Calderone) Anzalone, Johnstown, OH, grandchildren, Ava and Andrew Anzalone, brothers, James (Marcia) Anzalone, Chuck (Linda) Anzalone, Danny (Patty) Anzalone and sister, Carolyn Countryman and several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 AM at St. Peter by the Lake Episcopal Church, 8433 Fairfield Forest Rd, Denver, NC 28037.
