Pat Dorsey Sykes, Jr.
( April 24, 1958 - January 27, 2023 )
Pat Dorsey Sykes, Jr., age 64, of East Maiden Road in Maiden, NC joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 27, 2023. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Covenant Church in Lincolnton from 2:00 - 3:00 PM with a memorial service to immediately follow at 3:00 PM.
Pat (“P.D.”) was born April 24, 1958, in Morganton, to the late Pat Dorsey Sykes, Sr. and Rebecca (“Becky”) Sykes. Pat is a graduate of Lincolnton High School’s class of 1976. He lived in Lincolnton most of his adult life. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Cathy Sykes Harrell.
He is survived by his loving family including his daughter, Nicole Sykes Mullen, and her husband, Alex, of Lincolnton, NC; son, Pat Sykes III, and his wife, Courtney, of Chester, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Steve and Debby (Sykes) Brandon, of Cleveland, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Benjy and Penny (Sykes) Creasman, of Thomasville, NC; and brother-in-law, Billy Harrell of Raleigh, NC; beloved granddaughters, Karis and Kelsie Mullen, and multiple nieces and nephews along with their children.
Pat was employed at Lake Electric, in Maiden, NC and had a life-long history of working in the welding and electric fields.
He loved his large family and was especially proud of his granddaughters. He was also a proud Eagle Scout. Classic rock and country music were always playing on his “jambox.” He loved comedy movies and shows, shooting pool, and seafood. Pat never met an animal he didn’t love and felt the need to talk to. If he wasn’t wearing his work clothes, you would likely see him in some type of Appalachian State or UNC Tarheels gear, as he was a huge fan of both teams.
Pat will be remembered by those who loved him as a sentimental man, a hard worker, and a man with a giving heart.
Memorials may be made to Hebron Colony Ministries in Boone, NC via www.hebroncolony.org for their profound impact they had on Pat’s life and eternal salvation.
