George Michael Pope, age 76, of Alexis-High Shoals Road in Dallas, died on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Pope was born June 23, 1946, in Lincoln County, to Dorothy “Lorene” Brown. He was preceded in death by his father; stepson, Teddy Wall; and brother-in-law, Paul Lane. George worked as an analyst for Timken.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Ann Pope of the home; mother, Lorene Brown of Lincolnton; daughter, Sherry Taylor of Iron Station; son, David Pope of Iron Station; stepdaughter, Lois Lockerman of Weddington; brothers, Jim Pope (Bunny) of Vale, and Rodney Pope (Shilda) of Cherryville; grandchildren, Dillon Taylor, Natalie Salter, Brandy Sisk, and Landon Gaertner; great-grandchildren, Peyton Pullas and Carson Waldrop; brothers-in-law, Teddy Lane (Judy) of Florida, and David Lane (Beverly) of West Virginia; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Lane of West Virginia.
