Joan Marie Wood Owens
( November 10, 1934 - April 21,2023 )
Joan Marie Wood Owens, age 88 of Mint Hill and formerly of The Terraces in Denver, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Her funeral mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27,2023 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 9738 Fairview Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Fr. Paul Gary will celebrate the Mass. The family will receive friends from 12:15 p.m. until 12:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Belmont Abbey Cemetery.
Mrs. Owens was born November 10,1934 in Boston, MA to the late Chester Emanuel and Anne Agnes Timmons Wood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Marvin Owens.
She was a domestic engineer and very proud of that title. Mrs. Owens was an Oblate of St. Benedict at Belmont Abbey
She is survived by her children, Kathleen M. DuBois and husband Daniel of Mint Hill, Theresa Ann Bailey and husband Donald of Paisley, FL, Shirley Joan Maggard and husband Christian of Port Haywood, VA, Tamara Lee Vass and husband Kenneth of Efland, NC, Janet Marie Cox and husband Robert of Vale, Robert Owens, and William Leonard Owens and wife Ann Marie of New Bern, NC; grandchildren, Kevin, Brian, Stephanie, Nicole, Justin, Christina, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Dereck, Emily Anne, Taylor, Connor, Gibson and Chloe; numerous great grandchildren and brothers, Robert Wood, Richard Wood, Paul Wood, David Wood and Chester Wood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belmont Abbey Monastary, 100 Belmont Mt Holly Rd, Belmont, NC 28012.
