John William Arnett

John William Arnett, age 78, of Dogwood Flower Lane in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Burial will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in the Salisbury National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Denver Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Bigham officiating.
Mr. Arnett was born December 7, 1944, in Fern Creek, Kentucky, to the late Harold Edward Arnett and Mary Frances Blodgett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Poitress and Patricia Higgins. John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart, Air Medal, and Oak Leaf cluster. Upon returning home, he worked as a carman for Norfolk Southern Railroad.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Mays Arnett of the home; son, John Arnett, Jr. (Aurica) of Mooresville, and son, Jeremy Arnett (Angel) of Ellenboro; daughter, Lisa Laws of Denver; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dwainn Arnett and Harold Arnett; and sister, Edwina Mullins.
Memorials may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
